He was predeceased by: his parents, Israel Saenz and Elma Saenz; and his brother Cesar Xavier Saenz. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia R. Saenz; his sons, Hilario Saenz, Hector Mario Saenz, Jr. and Cesar Jose Saenz; and his sister Mary Lou Vera. He is also survived by six grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews.
