She was predeceased by: her husband Felix Gardner; her parents, John Hunt and Nannie Hunt (Webster); her daughters, Dessie Simmons and Cynthia Jefferson; and her siblings, John L, Billy Joe, Landus Hunt, Ruthie Mae Rivers, Juanita Baker, Daisy Gamble, Opal Wells and Lucille Martin.

She is survived by: her sons, James Jefferson of Domino, TX and Ray Charles Jefferson (Willa); her son-in-law Matthew Simmons; her daughters, Onaita Tyson of Queen City, TX and Deborah Williams (Gilbert) of Domino, TX; and her sister-in-law Arthenia. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
