He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugo William and Lottie Sturm (Hoffman); his son William Gerald Sturm; his brothers, Hugo Sturm (Shirley) and Rudy Sturm (Johanna Sturm); his nephew Rudy Sturm, Jr.; his sister Sophie Sturm; his nephew Craig Sturm; and his siblings-in-law, Gordon Searcy, Bruce Searcy, Jim Searcy and Susie Searcy.

He is survived by: his wife Anna Geraldine Sturm of Goliad, Texas; his children, Ronald Sturm (Charlene) of Port Lavaca, Texas, Susan Jeanean Williams (Kevin) of Ganado, Texas and Edwin Fritz Sturm (Cathy) of Columbus, Texas; his grandchildren, Nicholas Smith (Erin) of Port Lavaca, Marshall Smith (Lindsey) of Port Lavaca, Nathaniel Smith of Austin, Stephanie Sturm of Columbus, Mallory Williams of Florida and Katie Williams of El Campo; his stepgrandchildren, Hope Kurtz (Glen) of Port Lavaca, Donnie Mayes of Galveston and Eugene Clinton (Liz) of Peru; his great grandchildren, Kendyl Smith, Camille Smith, Rylee Smith, Logan Smith, Audrey Smith (AJ) and J. J. Williams; his brothers, William Sturm (Diana) of Port Lavaca and Max Sturm (Roberta) of Port Lavaca; and his close friends, Alvin and Arlene De Forest of Goliad. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
