She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Lee Bates and Edith Bankhead Bates; and her husband O. L. "Doc" Brinkley. She is survived by: her children, Carl Brinkley of Oglesby, Betty Erlanson (Robert) of McGregor and Janice Brinkley of McGregor. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Oglesby or Oglesby Volunteer Fire Department.
