It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melba Bettis of Odessa, Texas, born in Rockwood, Texas, who passed away on May 3, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Melba may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert E. Johnson and Opal Johnson; her husband O. L. Bettis; and her son Michael Herring. She is survived by: her children, David E. McClure (Sandra) and Sharonna K. Wilson; and her brother Bill W. Johnson (Eddie). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great great- grandchildren; along with countless extended family and friends.
