He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira R. Abbott, Jr. and Mary Ely Abbott; and his brother Robert Savage. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Abbott; his children, Kristin Rosan (John) and Kevin Abbott; his grandchildren, Stephen Rosan and Erin Rosan; his brother William Abbott; his sisters-in-law, Terrie Savage and Janis Martin (Joe); his nieces, Andrea Carter and Shannon Callison (Wade); his nephew Michael Martin; and his caregiver Cheryl Mock (Brad).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Oakwood Baptist Church's building fund in Ira's honor.
