He was predeceased by: his parents, Weaver Whitson and Mary Lee Whitson; his sister Zo Holley; and his children, Donnie Whitson and Debbie DiLella.
He is survived by: his son John; his daughter-in-law Sabrena Whitson; his daughter Lori Whitson; his children-in-law, Carol Whitson and Ric DiLella; his stepdaughter Pam Carter (Cagle); his niece Kellye Cannon (Mike); and his grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Brittany, Matthew, Melissa, Erica, Daniel and Lauren. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.
