He is survived by: his children, Kathryn Melanee Hart (J. Barry Hart, Jr.) and Rankin Virgle Hitt, III (Stace' Hanna Hitt); his grandchildren, Lauren Melanee Steinhaus (Daniel Steinhaus), Sean Barry Hart (Morgan Hart), Madelyn Anne Hart, Diana Lynn Camarillo, Austin Rankin Hitt (Nicole Hitt) and Jordan Taylor Macha (Shelby Macha); and his great grandchildren, Seth, Zoey, Micah, Caleb, Asher Steinhaus, Lars Hart, Ty, Cade Hitt, Skylor and Lane Macha.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to any veteran, first responder, or children's charity.
