He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Burris and John Burris; and his brother Harold Burris. He is survived by: his wife Linda L. Burris of Jourdanton; his children, Shari Burris Taake (Warren) of Bellville and Brant Burris (Polly) of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Hannah, Nathan, Jonah Taake, Jeff Burris and Ty Burris; and his siblings, Jerry Burris, Linda Royal, Kathy Stone and Gail Stewart.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made the Jourdanton United Methodist Church.
