She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Ray Sorrells and Johnnie Lou Sorrells; her son Tommy Smith (Melinda) of Gilmer; her brother-in-law Ken Smith (Jeannie Kay) of Gilmer; her sisters, Sue Griffin and LaJuan Snider (Joe) of Plano; her grandchildren, Brad Smith of Denver, Ryan Smith (Elizabeth) of Longview, Kayla Smith (Colton Speight) of Longview and Kara Smith of Allen; her great grandchildren, Eliza and Addison Speight; her husband Don; and her daughter Teri.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Bettye's memory to a charity of choice.
