He was predeceased by: his parents, Mable McCorpen and David McCorpen; and his brothers, David Jr. and John McCorpen. He is survived by: his wife Trina Shelton-Batiste; his sons, Joseph Jr. "Pookie", Rodney and Robert "Ethan" Batiste; his stepdaughters, Prokeysha Walker and Lauren Johnson; his siblings, Mable Holmes (Clarence), Sybil Henderson and Charles "Rickey" McCorpen; his uncle John Batiste (Jeanette); and his father-in-law Robert Jones (Mildred). He is also survived by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers/sisters-in-law, and friends.
