She was predeceased by: her parents, Federico Mendoza and María Mendoza (De Anda); her husband Jonas G. Álvarez; her sons, John E. Epperson, Jr. and Frederick W. Epperson; her grandson Joseph D. Carrasco; and her brother Fred D. Mendoza.
She is survived by: her children, Dr. Mary E. Carrasco (David) of Floresville, Dr. James A. M. Álvarez (Minerva) of Arlington, Texas, Judge Olga Álvarez (Michael) of San Diego, California and Jonas F. Álvarez (Sandra) of Pflugerville, Texas; and her grandchildren, Dr. Alice A. Epperson (John), John E. Epperson, III, Adriette A. Epperson (Azfar), Frederick J. Epperson, Johnny Joe García, Jr. (Nicole), Raven B. Carrasco, Ashton N. Carrasco, G. Alexander Vourtsanis, Nicholas J. C. Álvarez, Olga Belén A. González, Lucas G. A. González, Isabella M. Álvarez and Gabriella M. Álvarez. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
