He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerben Hettinga and Trijntje Hettinga (Winjnia); his father-in-law Rev. Edward Fikse; and his brother-in-law Jim Nyenhuis. He is survived by: his wife Melody Ann Fikse; his siblings, Annie Nyenhuis, Hein Hettinga (Ellen), Ted Hettinga (Eileen) and Melody Hettinga; his nephews, Joel Hettinga (Madeline), Jared Hettinga (McKenzie) and Joshua Hettinga (Kristy); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Connal, George, Hudson, Frank, Lacey, Emmett, Marjorie, Grant and Savannah Hettinga.
