He was predeceased by: his parents, Violet Mitchell (Thurman) and Gee Mitchell; his sister Norma Van Liew; his children-in-law, Benny Barton and Janet Mitchell; and his great grandchildren, Diana Barton and Olivia Boxley.
He is survived by: his wife Fern Mitchell (Knox); his brother-in-law Warren Van Liew; and his children, Steven Mitchell of Dumas, Sandra McSpadden (John) of Dumas, Cathy Barton of Bastrop, TX and Stacy Mitchell of Dumas.
