He was predeceased by: his parents, Alcee Sonnier and Ada Sonnier; his brothers, Wilfred, Wilbert and Alan Sonnier; and his granddaughter Stephanie Cooper.
He is survived by: his friend James Edward Dubois, Sr.; his wife Elizabeth Dubois; his children, Regina Lynn Dubois Vestal and James E. Dubois, Jr.; his siblings, Eva Jane Regan and Alec Sonnier; and his granddaughters, Ashley Dubois, Jamie Harrott, Lacey Newton, Amanda Love and Brittanie Dubois.
