It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jay Byrd of Dalhart, Texas, who passed away on October 3, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Leona Byrd (Warren) and Marion Riley "Buster" Byrd; and his brother Vanus Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Margaret of Dalhart, TX; his children, LeAnn Hessman (Gary) of Sublette, KS and Matt Byrd (Karen) of Amarillo, TX; his grandchildren, Brandi, Bradley, Ariana, Michael and Jakob; his great grandchildren, Braydon and Freya Mary; his stepsons, Kurt Keplinger (Keitha) of Amarillo, TX and Bryan Keplinger of Amarillo, TX; his stepgrandchildren, Blayne, Lance and Brodie Keplinger; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Saevid Keplinger, Brantlee, Lynlee Keplinger and Raygan Jay Keplinger; his brothers, Chester Byrd of Amarillo, TX and Bill Byrd (Susan) of Dalhart, TX; and his nephew Cody Byrd. He is also survived by nephews and nieces as well as other relatives and many good friends.
