He was predeceased by: his brothers, Johnny Lawler and Malcolm Lawler; his nephew Terry Hampton; and his great-nephew Tyler Lawler. He is survived by: his brothers, Gerald Lawler of Zavala and Jerry Lawler (Mary) of Commerce; and his nephews, Larry Hampton, Steve Lawler, Mike Faulkenberry, Jason Lawler, Craig Lawler, Bart Lawler and Garry Strickland.
