He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Lamar Rushing and Juanita Crouch Rushing; and his sister Janelle Rushing. He is survived by: his wife Patti Rushing of Carthage; his children, Tara Hodges (Daniel) of Carthage and Brandon Rushing (Brooke) of Denton; his grandchildren, Mara Hodges, Cullum Rushing and Blayne Hodges; his aunt Cloys Simmons of Greenwood, LA; his mother-in-law Georgia Massey; his sisters-in-law, Pam Kneipp (Bill) and Rhonda Kincaid (Don); and his close friends, Don and Shirley Ingram.
The family requests memorials to the Panola County Cancer Coalition or Heartsway Hospice.
