He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Thompson Earnest; his former wife Dorothy Sammons Earnest; his son-in-law Mike Ellis; and his sisters, Della Fore, Ruth Howe and Edna Bell Davis.
He is survived by: his children, Alice, Eddie Earnest (Bonnie), Melba Crutcher (Dennis), Robin Wilson (Sherill), Charlotte Powers (Jerry), Roger Sammons (Kathy) and Randy Sammons; his friend Catherine Clark; and also Linda Ellis Nowotny (Ben). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 11 great - great grandchildren.
