He was predeceased by: his parents, Norris Stegall and Jackie Stegall (Clayton); his stepparents, Monette Stegall, Ralph Chivers and Marshall Johnson; his brother Kelly Stegall; his stepbrothers, Jim Bob, Bill and Tom Chivers; his daughter Kathleen; and his grandson Philip Ponder.
He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Drake; his wife Patricia "Pat" Stegall; his daughters, Laura Armstrong (Trevor) of Fort Worth, Mary Stegall of Washington and Nora Ponder (Andrew) of Houston; his grandchildren, Abigail, Madelynn, Eleanor, Constance, Josephine Ponder, James and Patrick Armstrong; his siblings, Nova Reed, Mark and Joe Stegall; and his sisters-in-law, Beverly Deaton and Gail Drake. He is also survived by numerous extended family and friends.
