He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Carroll and Nell Jean Huffman Hicks. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Birdsong; his children, Joe Hicks (Diana), Shonda Thompson and Charolett Schmerber; and his siblings, Jay Hicks (Johanna), Jeff Hicks (Debbie), Joyce Kimbro (Tony) and Kay Stephens (Mike).
