He was predeceased by: his father James Richard Mires, Sr.; and his siblings, Burt Mires and Loretta Mires. He is survived by: his parent Bernice Marie Mires (Foreman); his wife Virginia Mires; his children, Gene Mires (Felicia) and Lisa Gomez (Sal); his grandchildren, Blake Mires, Devon Mires, Chelsea Mires, Gil Gomez, Garon Gomez and Vanessa Esparza (Jay); his siblings, Wynne Mires (Patricia), Del Mires (Annabelle) and Marilyn Broussard (Tim); and his siblings-in-law, Ellen Sartin, Lewis Morris (Margaret) and Ernie Morris (Sandy).
In lieu of customary remembrances donations may be made to Community Christian School at 3400 Martin Luther King, Jr.
