He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Thiel and Ida Thiel (Meyer); his wife Nancy Thiel (Curtis); and his son Troy D. Thiel. He is survived by: his brother Herbert; and his sister-in-law Helen Thiel of Brenham. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
