He was predeceased by: his parents, John Knuppel and Mary Lehde Knuppel; his son Russell Knuppel; his grandson Gregory Knuppel; his parents-in-law, Albert and Wera Menn; and his brothers-in-law, Fred Blum and James Voelkel.

He is survived by: his wife Magdalene Knuppel; his son Ronald; his daughters-in-law, Ann Knuppel and Paula Hill; his grandchildren, Alisha, Tim Hardwick, Mark Knuppel (Tabatha Blauen), Elizabeth Knuppel (Andrew Maicke), Suzanne Knuppel (Cody Stewart) and Jennifer Knuppel; his great grandchildren, Kylie Hardwick, Lilly Hardwick and William Hardwick; his sister Bernadine Blum; and his sister-in-law Lenora Voelkel. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
