He was predeceased by: his parents, Cohron Ceylon Speer and Gertie Elaine Speer (Pruitt); his wife Betty Hopcus Speer; and his sisters, Virginia Briggs, Chesteen Ingram and Cleo Fowler.

He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Reagan (David) of Bremond and Ceylon Speer (Terri) of Bremond; his grandchildren, Erica Speer, Emily Speer, Easton Speer, Cody Eichinger (Jessica) and Seth Eichinger; and his great grandchildren, Kaidon Johnson, McKenna Johnson, Henley Speer, Ceylon Speer, Kaden Eichinger, Kyla Eichinger, Landon Eichinger, Wyatt Eichinger and Nolan Eichinger.
