He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lucille Deland (Pridemore) and Earl Deland Sr.; his wife Betty Merle Ingham Deland; his children, David Earl Deland, James Elden Deland (Patricia) and Deborah Merle Ramirez (Felix); and his grandchildren, Katherine Michele Chen (Mark), Hanna Elizabeth Deland, Lance Terro, Gracelyn Ann Westover (Benjamin) and James Wesley Deland. He was also cherished by his family, friends.
