He was predeceased by: his father Joe Richard "Dick" Shelton. He is survived by: his mother Betty L. Shelton; his children, Marnie Klein (Dave) of Los Angeles and Richard Ray Shelton of Los Angeles; his sister Linda L. Shields (John) of Bedford; and his granddaughter Ivy Klein of Los Angeles.
