He was predeceased by: his wives, Gladys and Alice; his sons, Steven Schmidt and David Williams; and his brothers, Immanuel Schmidt and Martin Schmidt.
He is survived by: his children, Gerry Lee Schmidt (Valerie) of Hurst, Texas, Susan Schmidt of Arlington and Anitalynn Tighe (Brian) of Cupertino, California; his siblings, Curt Schmidt of Charlotte and Delores Allison of Miami, Florida; and his grandchildren, Rachel (Michael), Olivia, Celeste, Corinne, Tia and Whisper.
