He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Opella and Margaret Socha Opella; his brother Ernest J. Opella of Bay City; and his great-nephew Neil McDonald. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Jeanette Labay Opella of Bay City; his nieces, Sharyl McDonald (Nate) of Bay City, Diane Morton (Randy) of Hallettsville and Susan Maguire (Scott) of Beeville; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Taylor Opella Lesmeister (Brian), Jessie Opella, Sydnie Maguire, James McDonald (Callie), John Opella and Kaleb Maguire.
