He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Jessie; his wife Florence Buchanan; his daughters, Maureen Cardwell and Debby Cain; and his grandchildren, Michelle Norman, Kelly McCoy, Catherine Bybee, Clay Cain, Ronnie Cardwell, Christie Tuminello, LeAnne Henneke and Jerry Cardwell. He was also cherished by 26 great-grandchildren and many loving great nieces, nephews, and extended family.
