He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Valdez, Sr. and Julia Rodriguez Valdez; his daughter Jacqueline Valdez; his stepmother Angelita Valdez; and his siblings, Jesse, Sr., Lorenzo Valdez, Sr., Mary Guajardo, Helen Paniagua and Angie Lopez.
He is survived by: his wife Julia Trevino Valdez; his grandchildren, Jessica Melchor and Jonathan Lopez; his great grandchildren, Mark Garza, Leigha Melchor, Joel, Joey and Jackie Lopez; his great great grandchild Jackie Garza; his siblings, Lupe Valdez (Rocio Vieyra), Corrina Cortez (David) and Mary Rose Cox (Roger); and his siblings-in-law, Guadalupe Saldana (Tony), Tony, Abel Trevino, Erasto Paniagua and Rogelio Lopez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Building Fund.
