He is survived by: his brother Wayland Parsons; his daughter Connie Xan Parsons Richards; his wife Kay Sharon Parsons (Jones); his sister-in-law Ellen Parsons (Potts); his children-in-law, Diane Parsons and Jody Richards; and his grandchildren, Chance, Millie Parsons, Milo, Jennifer Parsons, Shafer, Marshal Thornhill, Catherine Fuller, Hannah Parsons, Maddison Richards, Emily Richards, Reese, Kelly Richards, Winston Parsons, Henrik, Hudson, Hunter Parsons, Joseph, Annie Richards, Lily, Riley Kay Richards and Bristol Paige Thornhill.
Upon his retirement in 1994, Dayland was appointed the CEO and Executive Director of the Texas Health Foundation until 2007.
