He was predeceased by: his father Junior Leon Kirkland; and his brothers, Michael Lee Kirkland and James Leon Kirkland. He is survived by: his mother Geraldean Kirkland; his siblings, Linda Massingale, Karen Brown, Tina Abernathy Ivens, Krystal Rinehart and Richard Kirkland; his niece Kristi Abernathy; his nephew Tyler Abernathy; his sister-in-law Susan Kirkland; his daughter Tangi Eckard of Lake Charles, LA; his grandsons, Preston Kirkland and Anthony Eckard; and his close friend Carol Martin. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
