He was predeceased by: his wife Thelma Payne; and his sister Shirley Lewis. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Payne and Darren (Shea Payne); his grandchildren, Garrett Payne, David Payne, Jessica Payne and Thomas Payne; his great grandchild Emmalea Payne; his siblings, Hazel Payne, Margie (Herman Millsaps) and Jason; and his sister-in-law Rhondale Payne. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and cousins.
