He was predeceased by: his parents, Felix Elihu and Gertrude Allen Southerland; and his brother Wayne Southerland. He is survived by: his children, Duane Southerland (Patty) and Kathryn Southerland (Katie); his grandsons, Dalton and Mason Ewing Southerland; his siblings-in-law, Joyce, Gerry Giffin of Madison, AL and Joe Bennett; his niece Laura Miller (Tony); and his nephew Nathan Giffin (Alma).
