He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Carroll and Christine Waggoner Prater; and his siblings, Eva Redmond, Roger and Dean Prater.
He is survived by: his wife Portia Brown Prater; his daughter Melanie Oakes; his siblings, Jean Brymer, Dennis Prater (Rosell), Lester Prater (Pat), Ronnie Prater (Doris), Glen Prater and Stevie Prater (Tammie); his caregiver Tammy Davis; his niece Darla Kay Guess; and his nephew Tim Prater.
