He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldridge Douglas Jr. and Mary Eleanor Jones Douglas; and the mother of his children Judy Davis Douglas. He is survived by: his wife Valerie Douglas; his daughters, Lori Yates (Michael) and Amanda Mitchell (Chris); his siblings, Philip Douglas (Terry), Sheri Harding (David) and Debbie McClure (Bob); his sister-in-law Michele Pinkston (Jeff); and his grandchildren, Madison Mitchell, Aniston Mitchell, Emma Yates and Cole Mitchell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
