He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Wates; his children, Mary Rowland and Matt Wates; his grandchildren, Earley Matt Wates, Gracey Faith Wates, India Bailey Boyd, Nicholas Braden Boyd and Plez Chase Caccavale; his brother Dean Kirk; and his siblings-in-law, Chuck and Peggy Boling. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews up north and several nieces and nephews.
