He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Luther Prater Sr. and Birdie Mae Prater of Ripley, TN.; his wife Judith Williams Prater; his children, Malisa Smith of Halls, Harold Prater of Arkansas, Jimmy Prater of Henning, Gisha Prater of Newbern, April Prater of Ripley Tn, Steven Booker of Ripley Tn and Vanessa Prater of Dyersburg; his stepdaughters, Amy English of Martin and Lee Ann Bennett of Lexington, KY; and his friend Lindsey Underwood of Ripley. He was also cherished by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
