She was predeceased by: her parents, William Cave Yates and Rosetta Moore; her children, Jackie Bess and Carolyn Elaine Bess; her brothers, Charles Edward Yates and William Glen Yates; and her stepfather James Yates.
She is survived by: her children, Larry Bess of Chattanooga, Kathy Heflin of Portland, Anita Mittelstrasser of Portland and Jamie Bess of Portland; and her siblings, Joyce Bolton (Judy) of Portland, JW and Michael Dewayne Yates (Lisa) of Oak Grove. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.
