He was predeceased by: his wife Aileen Barger (Nease); his parents, Joe Barger and Juneau Barger (Eisenhower); his stepmother Stella Barger (Henry); his sisters, Irene Smelcer (Charles) and Mae Smith (Roy); and his sisters-in-law, Inez Nease and Juanita Nease.
He is survived by: his sons, Carroll Barger of Newport and Bill Barger (Darlene) of Knoxville; his grandchildren, Shane Barger (Sharon) of Limestone, Heather Barnes (Matt) of Morristown, Amy Stevens (Jeff) of Knoxville, Chad Barger (Andrea) of Knoxville, Jon Barger of Knoxville and Alexandria Smith of Knoxville; and his great grandchildren, Aiden Barger, Emma Barger, Matthew, Elijah, Jacob, Lydia Barnes, Justin, Jordan, Joshua Stevens, Grant Barger, Anna Barger, Emrys Barger and Isadora Barger.
