He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Henry Rushing and Lillie Ernestine Melton Rushing; and his daughter Rebecca Latane Rushing. He is survived by: his wife Theresa Collins Rushing; his daughter Emily Fuqua (Wayne) of Cottage Grove, TN; his siblings, Patsy Howard (Gerald) of Paris, TN, Helen Wilson of Paris, TN and Thomas Rushing (Vicky) of Cottage Grove, TN; his grandchildren, Micah Fuqua and Lillie Bruner (Johnathon); and his great grandchildren, William Bruner and Alexander Bruner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
