He was predeceased by: his parents, McKinley Harness and Roxie Coker Harness; his wife Cardella Harness; and his siblings, Edward Harness, Chester Harness, Homer Harness, Hubert Harness, Rosie Day, Goldie West and Lorene Mason.
He is survived by: his children, Joyce Ann Carson, JoAnn Preeman, Lois Byrd (Jerry), Karen Baird (Robert), Angie Chitwood (Shannon), James Albert Harness, Rick Harness and Jerry Lee Harness; his siblings, Glenn Harness (Cookie), Louvena Bowling and Charlotte Williams (Bobby); and his close friends, Eli and Kay Crowley. He is also survived by several grandchildren; many great grandchildren.
