He was predeceased by: his mother Bessie Lou Slaven; his sister Christine Boyatt (Caney); his parents-in-law, Della and Raymond Young; and his siblings-in-law, David Paul Bell, John Russell Bell, Jerry Milford Bell, James Richard Bell, Mike Slaven, Maynard Huddleston and Melissa Young.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Slaven; his sons, Freeman Shane Slaven and Mark Anthony Slaven (Rachel); his grandchildren, Landon Slaven, Makenna Slaven, Gavin Lanter, Marissa Slaven and Julia Slaven; his sisters, Thelma Faye Slaven and Dorothy Mae Slaven; and his siblings-in-law, Ernest Bell, Wanda Davis, Darlene Lee (Eugene), Brenda Huddleston and Shelva Slaven (Wade). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
