He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Brassfield and Daisy Wilson Brassfield; and his brother Bill Brassfield. He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Gilliam Brassfield; his children, Jay Brassfield (Dayna) and Valeria Brassfield; his grandchildren, Lauren Brassfield and Trey Brassfield (Becca); and his siblings, Jim Brassfield (Kay), Margaret Smith and Carolyn Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital or to any family in need.
