He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Fred Tarkington Sr. and Frances M. Tarkington; and his brother Fred Tarkington Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Janet Jones Tarkington; his children, Glenda T. Bowles (Ryan) and Raymond Tarkington Sr. (Eddie); his grandchildren, Raymond Tarkington (Trey), Connolly Tarkington, Neely Tarkington, Amber Bowles, Daniel Bowles and Rachel Bowles; his niece Ferrin Mavar Leslie McCullough (Geoffrey); and his extended family, Casey Jones David Jones (Beth), Henry Jones and Philip Jones.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Stephens Valley Church (6000 Pasquo Rd, Nashville, TN 37221). A reception was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers Ray would be honored if donations were made in his memory to St Jude's Children's Hospital or Samaritan's Purse.
