He is survived by: his wife Heather Filson; his sister Barbara June Humphreys; his children, Sandra Filson Hunt, Alvin Morris Filson Jr. (Marquita) and Robert Timothy Filson (Becky); his grandchildren, Hannah Ivy Filson, Timothy Jacob Filson, Tiffani Dawn Moody (Tramont), Desiree Lauren Masencup, Britany Filson Curtis (Peter), Katelyn Filson Mahler (David), Cody Austin Filson (Emily), Micah Dillon Filson and Austin Davis (Carley); and his great grandchildren, Adelynn Jean Curtis, Hazel Jayne Mahler, Iver Rosalie Mahler, Clementine Louella Mahler and Saint Xavier Watkins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, November 25th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bethel Church of the Nazarene (455 Broadmoor Dr, Nashville, TN 37216). A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 25th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens (1150 Dickerson Rd, Goodlettsville, TN 37072).
