He was predeceased by: his son Zane Donald Owen; and his parents, Carl Owen and Naomi Owen. He is survived by: his sister Dolly Owen; his niece Cheryl Vick (Bob) of Cookeville; his stepson Lendzi Chandley of Cookeville; and his grandchildren, James Michael Edwards (Nikki) and William Jeffrey Edwards (Gerri Lyn). He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; and one great-nephew.
