He was predeceased by: his parents, J. A. Newton and Willie Penny Newton; and his sister Jo Biggs Newton. He is survived by: his son Michael Newton (Allison) of Nashville; his siblings-in-law, Gaylon Biggs and Jettie Ann Bowers (Bobby); and his nieces and nephews, Tracy Newton Best, Joanne Hutchins, Etta Heizman, Ruth Johnson, Tammy Trevathan (Kenny), Jason Hoffman (Andrea) and Bobby Hoffman.
