She was predeceased by: her father Dale Lippincott; and her brother Lee. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Russell Gibson; her mother Edith; her aunt Bitsy; her mother-in-law Mary Gibson; her children, Katie Taam (Mohamed), Dr. Andrew Gibson (Aleah) and Dr. Richard Gibson (Sarah); and her grandsons, Dean and Thomas.
Kay lived her life in service to others and in lieu of flowers she would have preferred donations to her favorite charities: The Blount County Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, and Friends of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
